The state of the world is in sad shape from many different perspectives. I have given much thought to defending democracy here at home, climate change and the environment in general, the role of men in society and the travesty of materialism. As I try to sort through my feeling on this matter, I find it best to put these down in essay form as it forces me to examine carefully each though and organize them in a coherent manner. I intensely dislike the sound bite length of argument we have so grown used to with the advent of the internet.
